U.S. LANDING POINT

N.Z. Gains Los Angeles Rights (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, March 13. New Zealand secured air landing rights at Los Angeles in civil aviation talks just concluded in Washington with the United States, informed sources said today. The agreement negotiated between delegations of the two countries still has to be ratified by both governments. The right to have Los Angeles made a West Coast landing point for jet flights by Tasman Empire Airways, Ltd., was reliably stated to have been the chief aim of the New Zealand team. New Zealand, under its 1946 bilateral air agreement with the United States, has landing rights at San Francisco, but had not made use of those rights with a scheduled service. In Wellington, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) refused to comment on the report.
