HIGH SEAS IN SOUTH
Waima Forced To Shelter (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Mar. 13. High seas are forcing the Government vessel Wairua to shelter in Easy harbour on the south-west coast of Stewart Island, and it is still unable to land the muttonbirders it set out with from Bluff on Tuesday. There are no anchorages at any of the muttonbird islands and the muttonbirders must be taken ashore in longboats to make landings on the rocks. This cannot be done until the sea moderates.
However, seas in Foveaux Strait moderated enough today to let the Bluff oyster fleet go out. The boats have not been out for two days.
