REVOLT ON BILL
Delaying Tactics (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Mar. 11. Rebel Conservative members of Parliament today followed up their attack on the Government’s plan to end price fixing with moves aimed at delaying the controversial legislation. They tabled a batch of amendments to the Resale Prices Bill for consideration in committee, and so dimmed Government hopes of getting this stage over before the end of the month. Sir Alec Douglas-Home, the Prime Minister, has pledged that the measure will be law before the forthcoming General Election, which could be held in May or June. The Opposition, which abstained from voting in the House of Commons debate last night, is also expected to table a batch of amendments next week. Sir Alec Douglas-Home is holding talks with senior Ministers and party chiefs to assess the impact of the revolt in the House of Commons last night and may discuss the issue at a Cabinet meeting tomorrow.
