Afternoon Free For Study
The upper sixth form at the Avonside Girls’ High Schood has had its time-table arranged to allow for one afternoon a week free . of teaching, the principal (Miss P. Stevenson) told the board of governors yesterday. This made available a period for continuous studyThe class received as much teaching as previously but its free periods had been combined to allow for the afternoon of uninterrupted work, Miss Stevenson said. The new arrangement would be valuable in allowing the girls to get used to the way of unsupervised university study, Miss Stevenson added.
X-ray Vans.— ln an effort to reduce the duration of its intensive anti - tuberculosis campaign in Auckland, the Health Department will probably call in more X-ray vans from other health districts. In the first week, With one van working more than 2000 people had chest X-rays taken. —(P.A.)
