Nine “Siamese” Children

Nine Christchurch children will have the chance to become Oriental princes and princesses for two weeks starting of March 3. For the production in Christchurch on Rodgers and Kammerstein’s “The King and F* nine “Siamese” children are required to play the parts of the king’s children.

Oriental and Maori children from five years of age upwards will be auditioned on Saturday at the Majestic Theatre art 11 a.m.

The only requirements for the children are an appealing appearance and they must be under sft 2in. The king’s eldest son in the production is sft 2in and none of his brothers and sisters can be any taller.

The children will sing one number, and take part in the “March of the Siamese Children.” They will have to speak some lines. Rehearsals will take place after school each day, and will only last for a week. The season in Christchurch is expected to last about a fortnight.
