P.S.A. AND F.O.L.
Discussion On Affiliation Some members of the Public Service Association consider affiliation of the association with the Federation of Labour desirable, an editorial article in the latest issue of the “Public Service Journal” says. “We are not exhorting affiliation to the F.O.L. That is a matter, of association policy, and we know of no current move in this direction. There are many of our members who express doubts about our co-operation with the F.O.L. on the basis of fears Concerning the political and factional aspects of the federation,” the article says. “These members would do well to consider a statement in a recent issue of ‘Red Tape,’ the official journal of the British Civil Service Clerical Association. “Our experience after many years of belonging to the T.U.C. is that fears of being politically compromised are unfounded; that in fact our organisation is being greatly strengthened by association with the T.U.C.” In New Zealand there had been a growittg tendency toward close co-operation between the P.S.A. and the F.O.L. in raising the general wage and salary level, the article said. It had to be remembered that the economic interests of all wage and salary earners were basically identical.
