BOOKS FOR TRIBUNAL
No Word Of Others (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Feb. 17. A Wellington bookseller said this morning that apart from “Another. Country,” by the American Negro author, James Baldwin, and “No Adam for Eve,” by Grace Metalious, no word had been received about other books to be considered by the Indecent Publications Tribunal. In the case of “Another Country” it is expected the tribunal will fix a place and date of hearing later this week. The Customs Department has held a number of copies but several were sold before the creation of the tribunal and are in circulation in New Zealand. Since the announcement to seek a ruling on “Another Country” under the Indecent Publications Act, 1963. copies have been withdrawn from booksellers’ shelves until the tribunal has pronounced on it.
Another representative of the bookselling trade said today he believed arrangements were being made for representatives of overseas publishers to attend sittings of the tribunal
