CRASHED PLANE

Feb. 16Four occupants of a Piper Cherokee ’ plane—two men and two children—were inwhW the plan« crashed on take-off at trie newly opened Hawke’s Bay alrpott at 839 this morning. 'The light plane had just left the main runway when the engine W power. The pilot made a sharp right bank in a bid to reach the runway, but the plane dipped, crashed ori its ripse, and somersaulted. Owned by toe Auckland Flying School, the Cherokee is a write-off. The four occupants were taken to hospital and their condition is reported to be Satisfactory. Their names have not been released by the police in to* meantime. The airport was officially opened yesterday.
