News About Air Race
The organisers of the i Christchurch - Masterton - ■ Christchurch air race on ’ March 8 have taken a ( foolish course in trying to ( dictate to newspapers how ; they shall report the event. ' The rules, binding all com- 1 petitors as well as the i organisers, say bluntly that “ relevant details ” will be : “ available ” only on the condition that newspapers refer to the “ 1964 Rothmans “ Air Race ”. If they seek publicity for the race this
is a curious way of going about it; and the condition is one that, for pur part, we are not prepared to accept. “The Press" will continue to report what news it can gather about the race, using, as is our custom, the name of the sponsoring firm whenever that seems to be part of the news. We will certainly not give an undertaking that we will follow any particular form of words or depart in any way from our normal practice.
