A fine double by P. Bladder, who scored 96 not out and took five wickets for 43 runs, including the hat-trick, was the outstanding feature of the Canterbury women’s cricket competition on Saturday. Other players to perform well were K. Wilkinson, who scored 68 not out and P. Adair, who made 36 and took four wickets. St. Albans I v. S. Albans H Although Bladder made 98 not out, St Albans I did not bat well against the steady St. Albans II bowling. Only M. Skelton and L. Ashby managing to reach double figures in a score of 160. In reply, St Albans H was 92 for eight wickets. K. Wilkinson batting well for 68. Scores: St Albans I 160 for eight (Bladder 98, Ashby 16, Skelton 23; J. Watson five for 47, N. Lawrence two for 48) drew with St Albans H 92 for eight (Wilkinson 68; Blacker five for 43, J. Dickinson three for 40). Beckenham v. Western Western easily gained first innings points against Beckenham when it dismissed Beckenham for 42 in its first innings. P. Adair, who took four wickets was Western's best bowler. Scores: Western 131 for six wickets declared (Adair 36, J. Rogers 37, L. Drummond 25, J; Witte 22; L. Hawes three for 73) beat Beckenham 42 (M. Healey 16; Adair four for 17, Rogers two for 1. M. Angus two for 4) and 20 for two (J. Lowe 14 not out). Maj Moa v. Technical A sound 53 by P. Moore was the highest score in a low scoring but close match. B. Harris batted well for Mai Moa to score 48 and all of the bowlers used picked up wickets. Scores: Mai Moa 107 (Harris 48, J. Gamblin 20, J. Edmonds 14, M. Lawson 11; J. Goddard three for 47, O, Williams two for 15) beat Technical 87 (Moore 53 not out, Goddard 13, J. Edmonds three for 15, M. Lawson three for 37, A. Giles three for 28).

Power Link.—An aerial survey will be made later this month or early in March of the area between the west arm of Lake Manapouri and Lake Monowai to determine the siting of the transmission line to bring power from 1 Manapouri.—(P.A.)
