Scottish Society Wins Provincial Band Contest

More than 100 bandsmen and women from seven bands entered in the Provincial Pipe Bend Contest held by the Highland Pipe Bands’ Association ait Denton Park on Saturday. About 500 persons were there to watch the bands take part in the five events. The day, dull and overcast, teas marred by a chill wind which swept across the perk. The judges considered the standard of dress among the bands was not consistent. They said the position in the quickstep went .from bad to good. •They said drumming in the test selection was just up to standard, while with one exception, the A Grade bands’ tone left much to be desired.
