Sumner Safely Placed In Suburban Competition

The second day of the eighth round games in the Suburban Cricket Association’s ' competitions was played in perfect conditions.

By gaining an outright win over Bumside. Sumner appear to have the competition in safe keeping. Carrying its first innifiigs to 199 Sumner only had a lead of 47 'but a* collapse by Bumside In the second innings left Sumner the small total of three to win. For Sumner, F. Clement scored 91, whilst in Bumside’s inningis, R. Jarvis claimed six wickets. Beckenham, mainly through a century by their captain, D. Beardsley, and a good 63 by E. Jackson, had little trouble passing the Waltham scone of 223,. the Waltham bowibers tailed hard for their wickets, I. Steer being the most successful. Mienivale again failed with the bat, losing its first seven wickets for 42, C. Johnstone was the only one to offer any real resistance, Papanui used six bowlers in this innings and then had only 22 to scone for an outright win which was gained for the loss of one wfcket.
