EXPORT LAMB
General Rise In Prices The export lamb schedule, which has been falling slightly since the beginning of the year, has begun to move upwards again. From Monday prices for all grades and weights of woolly lambs will be Id per lb more and all weights and grades of shorn lambs will be up by a half penny. All ewes will also be a half penny dearer. A meat industry spokesman said that the rise for lamb amounted to a halfpenny for wool and a .halfpenny for meat. It also involved an adjustment in the differential between shorn and woolly lambs from 3jd per lb to 3?d. On Smithfield market New Zealand lamb showed a further advance this week, ranging from id to IJd per lb.
New rates for lamb are:— Woolly,—Prime quality: 20 to 281 b, 20d; 29 to 361 b, 19d. 37 to 421 b. 174 d; 43 to 501 b. 16d: 51 to 561 b. 14d. Second quality: 2b to 281 b, 194 d; 29 to 361 b, 18Jd; over 361b,' 16jd Shorn.—First quality: 20 to 281 b, 16}d: 29 to 361 b, 15-1 d; 37 to 421 b, 13fd; 43 to 501 b. 12|d: 51 to 561 b, 10id. Second quality: 20 to 281 b. 15fd; 29 to 361 b, 143 d; over 361 b, 12? d. A change has been made in wool adjustments so that a deduction of 5d is now to be made for each l/Bth lb of wool under the basis pull of a Jib, and 5Jd is now to be added for each l/Bth lb between s'Bth lb and 11b, 6d for each 1/8 lb between 1 and 21b. and 6Jd for each l/Bth lb between 21b and 31b. Prices for woolly reject lambs are also raised by a halfpenny per lb. The new ewe schedule is a follows for both prime and second quality: up to 481 b. 7Jd; 49 to 561 b, 6fd; 57 to 641 b, sjd; 65 to 721 b. 3Jd; 73 •to 801 b, 24d; over 801 b and overfat, 2d; manufacturing. sid.
