SHIP’S HULL INSPECTED
80ft Battered, Two Big Holes (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 13. The hull of the Japanese fishing vessel, Kaiko Maru No. 15, which arrived yesterday after striking a rock, has been considerably damaged, inspection at the floating dock showed. ' Two holes, one four feet long and a foot wide and another six inches in diameter, have been punched in the starboard side. About 80 feet of her bottom running nearly half her length—has been battered in, twisted, and pushed upwards across her entire width.
It is thought that she must have slithered across a . reefBecause of the severity of (he damage, it is estimated that repairs could take three months and would cost at least £30,000.
