Picnic Spots Filthy (N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI. February 13. Her Excellency Lady Fergusson. at Marten yesterday, slated New Zealanders who litter parks and picnic spots. She said it was not safe for children to go on beaches because of broken glass. “Picnic spots in New Zealand are so filthy with litter that I would never stop at one.” her Excellency, who is Dominion president of Girl Guides, told members at the annual Dominion Council meeting. She also warned that the Maori-ipakeha problem was more serious than it appeared.
A management survey in Ottawa has recommended the replacement with tape recorders of the shorthand reporters who report debates in the House of Commons tor Hansard, the official record.
