TROTTING CUDDLE DOON HAS GOOD PROSPECT

Flying Over Another Minor Race Chance Cuddle Doon, in the Wainoni Handicap, and Flying Over, in the Marine Handicap, should be two of the best prospects at Addington Raceway tomorrow.

They will contest two of the minor races at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s autumn meeting. Both have shown splendid form and they look to be ready to extend their records at short notice.

Cuddle Doon, a three-year-old colt by Light Brigade from Jenny Grattan, created a good impression when at his first race start he ran out a decisive winner over 13 furlongs at Hororata on January 25.

This run confirmed the high opinion formed of him when he qualified just before Christmas.

Cuddle Doon will meet strong opposition tomorrow from a number of highlyregarded young pacers. Forbid, another three-year-old, showed speed second to Frugal at Hororata. He worked impressively at Addington on Tuesday and if he begins smoothly, he could take beating. Paddy’s Night showed that he was close to his best when he overcame difficulties to finish fifth in the race won by Belcairn at Forbury Park a fortnight ago. The slight drop in class in this field should assist him to race prominently. Durham began racing at Blenheim last 'week and gained a win and a fourth from two starts. The Meadow Chief gelding is certain to be improved by that experience and he might add interest to tire finish.

Bruce, Black Ancestor, Rekots, Ruapuna and Turbulence are others expected to race prominently. Flying Over, a winner over two miles in 4min 22 3-ssec at Ashburton on Boxing Day, should be too strong in stamina for most of his rivals in the two-mile Marine Handicap. In the meantime, he

has had a third and a fourth from three starts. His third was a grand effort at Hororata when he was beaten by Peerswick and Bruce over 13 furlongs. Frugal, a winner at Hororata, has taken time to strike form this season- He has always looked to be capable of further wins and now that he is back to his best, he should be capable of making Flying Over work hard for a win.

Royal Melody, too, was a winner at Hororata, capping off some consistent racing. He is usually most reliable and should be able to maintain a prominent position throughout the race. The consistent Bourbon Lad, Khraizon, a winner aj, the recent meeting at Blenheim, Lagmhor, Underrunner. Safe Flight and Stonhy Lad have all raced well enough at times in recent weeks to be considered as place prospects. The double Will be run on the New Brighton Cup and the Autumn Handicap, Orbiter and Rebel forming a likely combination. Fine weather is forecast and the track will be in good order.
