SCHOOLS SWIMMING Two Records By Mears At Technical College

The Canterbury representative, B. Mears, swam brilliantly to set two new intermediate records at the ' Christchurch Technical College boys’ swimming sports yesterday. He reduced the 'llO yards freestyle mark by 11 seconds and was almost three seconds Inside the old record for 55 yards backstroke.

Mears, who is the Canterbury boys’ 440 yards freestyle champion, will compete in the New Zealand championships at Blenheim next week. The only other record established at the championships was in the under-14 section, where B. Hale clipped half a second from the standing time for 55 yards backstroke.
