FIRE DESTROYS BALED HAY
Fire destroyed a stack of 100 bales of hay on a farm in Landsdowne Valley yesterday afternoon. The farm, off Potters lane, is owned by Mr Mervyn Gerrard. A fire engine from the Sydenham station answered the alarm, given at 2.59 p.m. The firemen had no chance of saving the stack, but prevented the fire from spreading to nearby outbuildings.
