“EMOTIONAL FLAVOUR”
Warning On Meetings (N.Z. Press Aisociation) AUCKLAND, Feb. 12. The “exceedingly emotional and individualistic flavour” of evangelistic meetings was not the sort of thing that was best suited to the needs of Bible, class members, said a report to the Auckland Presbytery last evening.
The Christian Education Committee advised that Bible class leaders be warned against accepting at face value invitations to these meetings. The report said the committee’s convener, the Rev. R. J. Blaikie, had attended one meeting and “while admiring the evangelistic enthusiasm of those conducting it,” he had objected to the emotionalism displayed. The committee asked that leaders be advised to be cautious about similar invitations which came from the' “youth committees” or other equally vague sources.
