(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, February 12.
• An §arly sitting of Parliament might be called by the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) to deal with the question of newspaper takeovers.
Following today’s Government caucus meeting, Mr Holyoake said he did not preclude such an . eventuality He said caucus had discussed the whole question of newspaper take-overs with particular reference to offers by Overseas interests. “The "matter is still under consideration and will be discussed further tomorrow,” he said. Mr Holyoake said this was the only conceivable issue at the present time which could occasion him to call an early session. "And this depends upon the action which caucus feels should be taken,’’ he said.
