ENGAGED
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Feb. 12. Voyager survivors who reached Melbourne today by train and plane were quickly surrounded by emotional and tearful relatives and friends. Among them was Electrical Mechanic Raymond Bobkb, who immediately announced his engagement to his attractive blonde girl friend, Gale Swanson.
They are both 17. “I lost £6O when the Voyager went down, but I am buying the engagement ring today with borrowed money.” Bobko said. He spent four hours naked in oily water after the collision before he was picked up by an air-sea rescue launch. For part of the time he was supporting a shipmate who had an injured chest.
