Early Opawa
. Sir,—An examination of the local terrain has now shown me that my mistake arose in supposing that the present footbridge at Ford road was in situ, with the Malcolm bridge, whereas the formation of banks has shown the latter to have been approximately where Claxton place is now; and Cholmondeley avenue on the Fifield terrace side. Wise’s; Post Office Directory shows us that Victoria avenue,. extended, became Cholmondeley avenue to ’ River road and Heathcote river: and Mr Malcolm's address in 1920 is given as River road. All this indicates’ how all that area from Beckford road bridge to Wilson's road bridge, right back to Hawford and Opawa roads, has. undergone an amazing and bewildering development.—Yours, etc., R. M. THOMSON. February ’ 12, 1964.
