The Wellington opening batsman, G. P. Bilby, may be in the invidious position of having to choose between his two sports—cricket and soccer—on Monday, January 27. On that day, Wellington starts its Plunket Shield match against Northern Districts at Hamilton—the match will finish at 6 p.m.—and at 8 p.m. all members of the New Zealand soccer team will be required in Auckland for 'the match against the Swiss club, Brasle, Bilby would hardly be in a position to play at Auckland if he had to field most of the day and he could also find himself batting when he was due to be on his way to Auckland. The position should be clarified when the selectors name Wellington s team next week but it is possible they will give the former Sydenham and Canterbury batsman, P. B.
