Damage To Pelts
The “serious damage” caused to pelts by storksbill and barley grass seed last year is referred to by Mr L. D. Cotterill, chairman of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company, Ltd., in his annual report to shareholders this year. The damage was re-
sponsible for the downgrading of more than 370,000 pelts by the company in the year ended October 31 last year. These pelts were sold at an average of 20s a dozen below the normal run of pelts, a loss in realisation of more than £30,000, Mr Cotterill says.
