Busy, Steadier Close To Week’s Trading
Brisk trading brought the first week’s trading of the year to an end on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. The tone was steadier, both New Zealand and overseas issues showing rises and falls almost in balance. Most moves by overseas issues were marginal, apart from A.N.1., last traded on November 21, which showed a rise of Is 8d to 3s 9. Alex Harvey made good gains with a rise of Is 6d to 46s for the old shares and 9d to 45s 9d for the B shares. Wilson Cement rose Is 3d to 22s 3d, while New Zealand Express in first business since mid-November gained Is 2d to 21s 6d.
