Felacita Has Chance At Pukekohe

AUCKLAND, January 17. Felacita’s front running ability gives him a fine chance for success in the £lOOO Hosking Handicap the first leg of the double at Pukekohe tomorrow. Gitano. Blue Heather, and Nett Price may run him closest at the finish. A six-year-old gelding with the looks of a fine stayer. Felaeita has yet to win an open handicap this season but at times has gone very close to success. From four starts he has been placed three times as well as getting fifth so victory for him today would be more than well deserved. At his most recent start he came second to Golden Defoe at Te Aroha, over 11 furlongs on December 7. On that occasion a race record was set so it was a particularly smart gallop. Hello Polly, a mare from Takanini, dominates the second leg. the Pokeno Handicap. Her recent form has been much better than any of the runners she will meet tomorrow. At her last start Hello Polly came a close fourth In the Railway Handicap at Ellerslie and that had followed right on a nice-win in the Electric Handicap on the second day of the Auckland meeting. In the Electric Handicap Hello Polly carried 7-7 so with only 41b more today she looks more than well placed Melodic from Te Rapa, and Taxpayer, a locally prepared gelding, may be Hello Polly’s hardest opponents.
