SKIRMISH IN THE PANAMA CANAL ZONE.—United States troops forcing back Panamanians who crossed the border fence to place small national flags in the Canal Zone. The troops have bayonets on their rifles and are wearing respirators. They used tear gas against the Panamanians. The Canal Zone was leased in perpetuity to the United States more than 60 years ago.
