(N.Z.P.A.-R«ut«r— Copyright) AJACCIO (Corsica), Jan. 13. The French biologist Gaston Naessens today appealed to British authorities to stop two-year-old June Baird, of Glasgow, being flown to Corsica to receive his special serum treatment for leukemia. She has been given only 15 months to live. On Saturday, Mr Naessens announced that he would not treat any new patients in France while his serum was being tested by French health authorities. The tests are expected to take 24 months. Mr Naessens said today that he had asked the British Vice-Consul in Ajaccio, Mr William Snook, to pass his request on to the relevant British authorities to halt the flow of British children seeking treatment Three Glasgow children already in Corsica—four-year-old Donald Brown, Robert McFarlane, aged three and John Huston, aged fivewill not receive the serum. Mr Naessens said the three children already receiving the treatment, two French boys and four-year-old Edward Burke, of Blackpool, were coming on “very well.” He said he did not yet know whether he would be going to Scotland at the invitation of a businessman interested in cancer research, Mr Daniel Davie. “The question is still under study,” he said.
