Deformations In Babies
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) WASHINGTON, January 13. At least one baby but of every 100 born alive in the United States has a congenital defect observable at the time of birth, the , Public Health Service reported today. Birth defects were reported in 5210 of 520,000 babies born in 27 States during the first five months of 1963. Cleft lip, or harelip and cleft palate, clubfoot and def ects of the genital-urinary system were the most common malformations reported.
