INVERCARGILL. Dec. 15. The Government would support any proposal to boost the fishing industry and such proposals would be considered by the newly-established Fishing Industry Board. Mr G. G Grieve, member of Parliament of Awarua. said today. He had been asked to comment on a proposal claimed to increase the industry's value 100 times by having small vessels operate from 800 to 1200-ton moth er ships, similar to what the Japanese were doing. Mr Grieve said: "There is definitely something in what h< says, but it is not a new proposal It was put up to us when we investigated tire fishing industry this year." iMr Grieve was a member of the Parliamentary select committee.) The fishing industry board would, when the members were chosen, recommend to the Government all sound proposals which could boost the industry.
