Slack Time On Wharves
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 16. Waterside workers in Wellington are facing a lean Christmas this year after the longest period of slack employment at this time for the last seven years. For three months, apart from one or two spells of full employment, men have been sent homo in hundreds daily. The branch manager of the Waterside Industry Commission (Captain C. D. Watt) today described the slack period as unprecedented for this time of year.
