Clothes from the houses of Dior, Chanel and Balenciaga stand out distinctively in the world of fashion like cherries in rice pudding. It is this talent for originality that has been responsible for the growing fame of fashion's newest star, the young French designer, Emmanuelle Khanh. Miss Khanh features the odd, the offbeat, the uninhibited and the amusing. The show was attended by a collection of fashion elite rare outside the opening of a grand couturier. The chiefs of the influential magazines ‘‘Vogue’’ and ‘‘Elie’’ r.ade a point of attending in person. “And. as is rarely the case with the great names.” wrote one distinguished fashion writer, “this girl’s show was worth all the fuss and palaver.’’ Another top fashion writer commented: “Hiat she has ideas I am ready to admit but are they good ones or even the right ontts*”
