No Way Of Removing School Offenders

WELLINGTON, Dec. 11. There was no way at present of removing from schools senior pupils who were persistent offenders unless they had committed some heinous offence, the president of the New Zealand Post Primary Teachers' Association (Mr L. E. Adams) said this morning.

In a telephone interview from Auckland, Mr Adams was commenting on the reported statement of the rector of the Timaru Boys’ High School (Mr M. A. Bull), that there were about 12 senior pupils who should be removed from his school Mr Adams said Mr Bull had said something pertain-

ing to his school which he obviously felt needed strong comment, and personally he could agree with his point. However, he would not like to comment further on the maitter, nor could he give an indication as to whether Uns was a New Zealand-wide problem until he had given it considerable study. In the normal course of events it took a long time for machinery to go into action against those pupils who were persistent minor offenders, expulsion being exercised only for serious misdemeanours, he said.
