Wool Cheaper At Napier Sale

NAPIER, Dec. 11. Coarse fleece wools were cheaper by Id a lb, and fine fleece wools by hd at the Napier wool sale today, compared with Wellington rates last week, according to the official report issued by the Hawke’s Bay Woolbrokers’ Association in conjunction with the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association, and the New Zealand Wool Commission.

Good pieces were firm, but average pieces and bellies were in buyers’ favour. An offering of 26,051 bales was made to a fully representative bench of buyers. Included in this total were 3172 bales of scoured wool.

“The offering, which was drawn from all Hawke's Bay, Poverty Bay and Taupo districts. consisted mainly of ewe wools, but there were still a fair number of hogget clips, apfl also a small offering of second-shear and odd lots of lambs’ wool," says the report.

“The offering was not up ,to the usual standard ex- ■ pected at this time of the [year. Many of the clips were short in staple, dusty and [heavy in condition, particu- ! larly from the fat lamb producing areas. “However, there were a i number of attractive lines from the southern part of the province, while clips from the Poverty Bay and coast areas we re generally much better i yielding wools than those [from Hawke’s Bay. !
