MODERATOR INDUCTED

Rev. R. M. Rogers The Rev. R. M. Rogers, minister at St. Andrew’s Church, was inducted as moderator of the Presbytery of Christchurch for the coming year by the retiring moderator (the Rev. D. G Shaw) at a service in S’. Andrew’s Church on Tuesday evening. Mr Rogers, who has been in the Christchurch Presbytery for eight years in convener of the ecumenical affairs committee of the General Assembly and convener of the social services committee of the Christchurch Presbytery. The church of which he is minister is the Presbyterian mother church of Canterbury and will play a leading part in the Presbytery’s centenary celebrations which will be held next year, Mr Rogers a convener of the Presbytery centennial committee. Describing the presbytery .as “essentially a corporate bishop and father in God.” Mr Rogers said the moderator j was no bishop, but a leader, ! and he asked for the help lof “a band of brothers” in his task as moderator.
