SABOTAGE TRIAL

Relations With “Comrades”

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PRETORIA, Dec. 10

Details of a “top secret” plan for revolution in South Africa, involving links with Russia, China, and “German comrades,” were read at the "treason trial” of Nelson Mandela and nine others in Pretoria yesterday. They are charged with plotting sabotage, guerrilla warfare. and the violent overthrow of the Government. A witness identified the handwriting on the document as that of Arthur Goldreich. named as a co-conspirator at the trial, who escaped from police detention in Pretoria last August and reached London.

It was said to have been found in his study at a farm used as headquarters by the alleged plotters. The document mentioned links with Russia, “German comrades.” and discussions with Chinese leaders, including Nung Nying-Yi. on the transition of the struggle in South Africa from nonviolent to violent form.

Nung Nying-Yi was not identified, and is not mentioned in Western reference books.

The document also gave formulae for making a variety of explosives, and referred to the difficulties of transferring armaments by sea.
