PEOPLE IN THE PLAY
The national men’s and women's springboard diving champions, R. L. Hodge and Miss Helen Hutton, have been granted passes in the theoretical portion of the diving judges’ examination. Their practical test will take place during the Canterbury championships on January 25.

A for- o mer Perth cricketer, Pro- ;■ fessor Hopkins played for West Christchurch when he took up an appointment ' I at Canterbury University ' I some years ago. His son, B. H. Hopkins, who plays n for West Christchurch- o University, has been chosen as a member of the Canterbury Plimket Shield ]> squad. ' ;
