PRINTING TRADE APPRENTICES
24 Needed Next Year Twenty-four more apprentices were needed in the printing industry in Canterbury next year, said the president of the Canterbury Master Printers' Association (Mr B. C. Bascand) yesterday. The figure had been obtained by a survey carried out among members. The survey, he said, covered apprentices in newspaper hand typography, newspaper machine typography, letterpress machining, commercial hand typography, commercial machine typography, lithography, letterpress machining, paper ruling, stereotyping, bookbanding. and composing machine mechanics. Mr Bascand said that boys of 16 and over, interested in careers in the printing industry were invited to be interviewed by the secretary of the Canterbury Master Printers' Association (Mr R. T. Alston).
