DERAILED AT EALING
Mishap To Rail-Car When the Christchurch to; Dunedin rail-car was derailed 1 lat Ealing last evening pas- ; sengers had to complete I about 30 miles of their jour- ; ney by bus. Passengers travelling from Dunedin to ! Christchurch were also affected. The accident occurred, about 7.20 p.m. when the rail-car, which left Christ-; church at 5.35 p.m.. was. passing over a switchpoint on 1 the Ealing loop. Two wheels of the rear bogie were de-, railed by points which were!’ out of position. The rail-car was moving)! slowly at the time. It was put back on the rails at 9.30 p.m. after Dunedin-bound' passengers bad been taken on to Timaru by bus. There they boarded the rail-car( bound from Dunedin to; Christchurch to travel to! Dunedin. Passengers bound for j Christchurch were to be taken by bus to Ashburton, where they were to board another rail-car sent from Christchurch. Putting the rail-car back on the track did not require a crane. No-one was injured in the 1 incident.
