Tha thirtieth of November, 1963 marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of New Zeeland's first railway, which linked Christchurch (Madras St. Station) with Ftrrymead a distance of 4 miles. In our display windows, we ere featuring a most interesting series of photogrephs end drewings depicting important occurrences in the progress throughout the Century. For the railway enthusiast, both young end old, we ere showing in one of our Cashel St. windows, a working model reilwey system of 3 units, automatically controlled to obey signals, pass at loops and generally demonstrate modern railway developments. These displays are made by the courtesy of, and with the co-operation of the Publicity Department of the Now Zealand Government Railways.
