Press Association) Nov *mber 17 with the batsmen again holding command, the fifth aeries of matches in the Auckland club encket competition on Saturday produced only four first-innings results. Papatoetoe was one of the four and has now taken a four point lead in the championship. It has 25 points, followed by Cornwall I#, University 17, North Shore 14, Eastern 10, Suburbs 3 and Grafton 6. The outstanding batsmen were the Suburbs players. J. A. TurnbuU, who scored 98 in quick time, including 11 fours and five sixes, and D. Taylor, the Auckland selector, with a dazzling innings of 93. Results were:— Papatoetoe 252 for nine declared beat University 90 (B. Bodie six for 2* ) and 182 for five (J. Sparling St. C. Cross 40) on the first Innings. Eastern 182 for seven declared and 87 for five (T. Jarvis 39. M Burgess 34) beat Cornwall 116 (B. Smith six for 49) on the first innings.

Suburbs 346 for eight declared (J. A. Turnbull 96, D. Tavlor 93, H. Howarth 45, B. Rollinson 43. W B. Norman 42) beat Grafton 205 and 120 for two <K. Dwyer 71 not out). North Shore 222 for five declared (H. Miller 37, R. Morrison 55, D Coleman 52) beat Eden-Roskill 216 for seven declared and 138 for no wicket (K. Taylor 76. G. Hodgson 56) on the first innings.
