Housewife Has No Sewing Problems

MASTERTON, November 14. A Taueru housewife, Mrs Nellie Oliver, lay in bed last night considering a sewing chore which needed attention. This morning her thoughts were far from work. She learned she had won first price in the Golden Kiwi lottery. Although Mrs Oliver will not have to sew again for a long time, her retired husband, Mr George Oliver, finds their windfall will not be the end of work for him. Mr Oliver, who has lived and worked at Taueru all bls life, said today: “I wouldn’t knock off work if I won £100,000.” Their joint ticket won the major prize in the one hundred and twenty-sixth lottery, drawn today. They are considering a trip to London, • Mrs Oliver’s birthplace. Following is the unofficial prize list. Official results, including £5 prizes, will be advertised in “The Press” later.
