RECORD SENT TO POPE
Christchurch Choir Thanked The St. Albans Presbyterian Church choir has received a letter from Vatican City thanking it lor a record sent to the Pope. A year ago the choir made the record to raise money for the Freedom from Hunger Campaign. A Roman Catholic group in the city subscribed to a copy of the record and asked the choir to send it to the Pope. The choirmaster <Mr M. G. Smith) has received the following letter: “The Secretariat of State of his Holiness is directed by the Sovereign Pontiff to acknow - ledge with gratitude receipt of the gramophone record entitled ‘Reach Out in Pity.’ which Mr M. G. Smith and associates recently forwarded for his acceptance, and to convey to the donors the assurance of his appreciation of the sentiments of deferential homage which prompted this presentation.”
