Alliance Plans 24-Hour Shift

A 24-hour a day shift system, requiring 200 additional staff members, is planned for the Alliance Textiles <N.Z.I, Ltd., woollen mills at Milton. “We are aiming at employing 200 extra staff members if we can get them.” the managing-director of the Alliance group, Mr B. A. R. Spence, of Timaru. said. A recruiting drive to provide the additional staff was under way at present. Mr he believed the 24-hour shift system was the answer to the problem of rising overhead costs in New Zealand.
