Goats Of High Standard
Although entries were lighter the standard of goats was the highest shown in three years, said the steward (Mr G. Cutts). The most successful competitors were L. M. W. and J. A. Simpson, whose mature entries took the premier prizes—champion milch goat, male and female. The two animals together won five awards. Much interest was taken in a Toggenburg goat, the first pure-bred specimen to be shown here for many years. The Toggenburg goat, a premier Swiss breed, was entered by M. Brown (Riccarton). It took first place in the class for goats under six months.
