ANNUAL OPEN CATTLE SALE
800 Head Offered At St. Andrews (From Our Ou>n Reporter) TIMARU, Nov. 14. Approximately 800 steers, heifers and cows with calves at foot came forward for the annual St. Andrews open cattle sale today. Many pens of yearlings showed the effect of the cold, wet winter, and were late in shedding their winter coats, and a few pens were backward in growth and condition. The gallery of graziers was not large and buyers were inclined to be selective. As a consequence values eased on last year's sale. A few pens were passed in at auction but were sold later at satisfactory figures. Prices were: yearling Hereford steers, £l3 to £23 10s; yearling Hereford heifers. £2O 10s to £23 10s; yearling Aberdeen Angus steers, £l6 to £24 10s; heifers, to £2l ss; yearling Shorthorn and Aberdeen Angus cross steers. £2O to £32: yearling Shorthorn and Aberdeen Angus cross steers. £l6 10s to £27: two-year Aberdeen Angus heifers, £24 15s to £27: cows and calves. £26 to £3B 10s: empty cows, to £l5; two-year steers, £33 to £39 10s.
