Case Put To Ombudsman
A vase for more permits is to be prepared by the New Zealand Owners, Trainers and Breeders' Association and sent to the Ombudsman (Sir Guy Powlesi for consideration. This was decided at a special meeting of the association in Christchurch on Wednesday He was sure that a case properly presented would command favourable consideration, said Mr M. T Willis (Auckland!. He did not think that the New Zealand Trotting Conference could advance such a strong case as owners and breeders. The case for permits should go turough the conference, said Mr D. J. Townley (MidCanterbury >. It was decided that Mr Willis should prepare the case which would be considered by the association before being sent to the ombudsman. Earlier, a remit from the Waikato association seeking support for the allocation of the bulk of any new permits to the North Island was lost by a substantial margin. Officers elected were: patron. Mr W. E. Desmond: president, Mr M Andrews: North Island vice-president, Mr M T. Willis; South Island vicepresident, Mr G. .J. Morrison. Chesterfield Amiss The Greymouth trotter. Chesterfield, is unlikely to race again at the cup meeting at Addington. A knee filled after he had won the Introductory Handicap at Addington on Tuesday and he will not start in the Yaldhurst Handicap today. Chesterfield was one of the early favourit's for the race. Chesterfield, a gelding by Vagus from Dawn Grattan, is raced and trained by H R. Reid. He has had three wins from four starts this season and looks to be one of the most promising trotters in commission. Still “Trotting’’ Cup (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Nov. 14. The Auckland Trotting Club will retain the names Auckland Trotting Cup and Auckland Trotting Derby for the feature races at its Christmas meeting on December 27 and 3! The club had planned to change the names to Auckland Pacing Cup and Grea’ Northern Pacing Derbv The distance of the Derbv however, has been altered from a mile and a half to 11 furlongs.
