PRACTICAL USE FOR YASHMAK.—Though women of the Middle East and the Far East are slowly getting rid of the yashmak, like the one worn by the Egyptian woman on left, this type of veil is now being introduced in Britain’s bigger industrial areas. The new-style yashmak for western women is an anti-smog device. It looks like a chiffon scarf tied over the nose, but inside is a protective mask hidden by embroidery on the double chiffon, as shown on right.
