Libel Claim By Breasley
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. November 12. The Australian jockey. Arthur (“Scobie”) Breasley said today he thought he was "entitled” to damages for alleged libel in two newspaper articles. The 49-year-old former Melbourne rider was giving evidence on the first day of the hearing in the High Court. His claim concerned articles in the "Sporting Life" in October, 1861, and in the "Daily Herald,” in November the same year Breasley has sued the newspapers’ publishers. Cdhams Press. Ltd., and the two writers for unspecified damages. The defendants denied the articles were defamatory and contended that they were written in good faith and without malice.
