Training Plans Upset
After a second set-back to her training, the world ranked women's halfmiler, Miss M. A. M. Chamberlain, hopes to resume light training again thia week-end. Miss Chamberlain had to withdraw from the recent international games at Tokyo because of Illness, and more recently her training had to be abandoned because of injuries to both her achilles tendons. According to Miss Chamberlain, this is the first time in her athletic career she has been
"knocked out** like this and she wants to be back in full training by Christmas at least, in preparation for the Olympic Games next year. Her latest break was the result of breaking in a new pair of running shoes. They were a little tight just above the heel, and Miss Chamberlain expected this would ease as the shoes stretched with use. Instead the continued pressure irritated the tendons in both legs and Anally, scarcely able to walk, she had to abandon training.
